Spears Set to Star in Sitcom
(FiniteTimes.com) – The acting bug appears to have bitten singer Britney Spears, who this week announced plans to star in her own sitcom for the Fayetteville, Louisiana-based Acadiana Open Channel.
“I just had such a great time on ‘How I Met Your Mother’, y’all. I’m just totally stoked to do this,” a jubilant Spears told the assorted paparazzi who had followed her to a Fayetteville gas station. “No dancing, no singing, just memorizing a couple of lines and DON’T TOUCH THE FUCKING CAR, YOU PRICK! I’m like, so excited!”
While the show will only air on public access television, Spears association with it is already creating quite a buzz among Hollywood insiders, and not all of it good.
“They’re calling it ‘Hannah Louisiana’? Are you kidding me? Why don’t they just call it the ‘Sue My Ass Show’?” asks the Hollywood Journal’s Guy LaPonce. “The premise of the show is that there’s this rock star who suffers from a split personality disorder and has this secret life as a bald, corn-fed bijou girl by day. Think Hannah Montana in reverse, with a little psychosis thrown in. Which is fine, you can’t copyright ideas, but sweet Jesus! Don’t name the thing after the series you stole from in the first place, you know?”
While the show has already begun filming its first season, security on the set and indeed surrounding the whole project has been fairly tight. Still, some tantalizing details have managed to leak out, touching on everything from Spears’ wardrobe (crotchless overalls and floral hats), to dialog (Spears/H. Louisiana: “Oh my God, who shaved my head, y’all?”), to cast (Dustin “Screech” Diamond is said to be in the series as a Phys. Ed teacher/love interest). Rumors of Dr. Phil (McGraw) joining the show as a medical advisor do not appear to be credible, although the Talk-Doc has been seen lurking around the Hannah Louisiana set, despite an alleged restraining order.
“Hannah Louisiana” hopes to begin airing episodes on Acadiana Open Channel in August (Saturdays at 9, or whenever anyone calls in to request it).
