Sarah Palin Unveils 2008 Christmas Card
(FiniteTimes.com) – In an extreme version of turning lemons into lemonade, Alaska Governor Sarah Palin is taking a photo “oops” and turning it into a defining moment that may very well signal the first shot to be fired in the 2012 election.
The “oops” in question occurred last week, when the former running mate to John McCain was giving a lengthy interview after officially pardoning a turkey for Thanksgiving. Little did she know at the time, but turkeys were being slaughtered behind her throughout the interview, the video of which has since created an Internet firestorm.
If you’re thinking there’s no way to spin this, you’re not thinking like Sarah Palin.
“Hey check it out. These are our official Christmas cards this year. Pretty spiffy, eh?” Governor Palin asked the gathered press. She held up a festive card decorated with cartoon turkeys and an actual image captured from the interview.
“Now, this is the spirit of Alaska right here. See, it’s kind of fun, kind of colorful, and if you mess with us or look yummy, we’ll kill ya,” Governor Palin said. “And this is so much like the rest of the country and the terrorists smothered in giblet gravy and such.”
What Palin said next struck many political analysts as proof that she is planning a 2012 run for the GOP presidential nomination.
“If I was president, ya know, I’d send them terrorists one of these Christmas cards and say ‘Look, don’t mess with us or this guy here, I call him Joe the Turkey Plucker, he’ll fix your little dogsled’,” Governor Palin said, quickly adding, “But this isn’t a slam to the city of Turkey, heavens no. Those guys are cool.”
Governor Palin was also forced to admit that the turkey she pardoned would instead be gracing her own table come Thursday.
“It’s true, it’s true. Well, I held the turkey, ya know, and then I kept smelling my hands, and they smelled sooooooo yummy, I kind of un-pardoned him,” Governor Palin admitted. “How’s that for marvericky!”
Governor Palin’s official 2008 Christmas cards featuring the governor and Joe the Turkey Plucker are scheduled to mail out December 1st.
