Behind The Music Producer Hospitalized
(FiniteTimes.com) – Emmy-nominated Behind The Music producer Mark Edmunds was hospitalized Tuesday night for what a VH1 spokesman says is exhaustion.
“Mark personally took over the Britney Spears episode update a few months ago, and to be honest, I think it just proved to be too much,” the spokesman told The Finite Times.
Behind The Music episodes are frequently updated to reflect the death of band members, visually-appealing drug and alcohol dependency slides, and, less common, musical act resurgences. In terms of the Britney episode, trying to keep up with the singer’s erratic behavior over the past several months may have been enough to push Edmunds over the edge.
“She’s driving around with her baby on her lap, she almost drops the baby, she’s all over the map partying, she flashes everything north of anus and south of C-section scar… it’s just impossible to keep up with,” said the spokesman. “Mark would finish the episode edits, put it in the can, and then something else would happen. The latest Britneyism was just too much for him.”
The 911 tape shows clearly just how far gone Edmunds was when his wife finally contacted health officials:
MIRA EDMUNDS: Yes, this is Mira Edmunds. I need an amb…
MARK EDMUNDS: My God, she shaved her fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuucking head! Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa… Shoot me! Please, just shoot me!
MIRA EDMUNDS: …ulance.
In an ironic twist, Edmunds is said to be recovering in the same undisclosed hospital as Britney Spears. An anonymous source at the undisclosed hospital says that staff had originally intended to increase security around Ms. Spears when Edmunds was admitted, but decided against it.
“Seriously, would the man just make more work for himself?” the undisclosed hospital anonymous source said. “I don’t think so.”
Upon his return to VH1, Edmunds is expected to take over the Hootie & The Blowfish update. The Britney episode has been put on “merciful hold,” according to the VH1 spokesman.
